The Jamaica Bankers Association recently awarded an employee of one of its members a scholarship to pursue the MBA with the Manchester Business School Worldwide (MBSW). The scholarship was awarded to Ms Sandra Parris of Citigroup Jamaica. This programme is administered through the JIOB (Jamaican Institute of Bankers) - the official Caribbean Centre for Manchester Business School Worldwide. Speaking about her scholarship, Sandra said: "I am very honoured to be the 2006 JBA Scholarship Awardee to pursue an MBA with Manchester Business School, a very prestigious institution. I intend to use this opportunity to the best of my ability and to attain the highest possible grades so that at the end of the course, my sponsors will also be proud. She continued: "By pursuing this programme there are tremendous benefits to be achieved, one of which is, I will be qualified to take on additional responsibilities in the workplace and ultimately achieve my goal to move to the next professional level. Personally, I am positive that this MBA programme will be the proof of time management at another level which is balancing a demanding job, family, community related activities and good grades. Being able to manage all of these areas whilst being successful in this programme will indeed be a great achievement. On the service offered to professionals in the Caribbean, Sandra added: "I think the JIOB is giving a worthwhile service and I hope that they will continue to offer scholarships to professionals like myself who are aspiring to achieve more than what they already have, enabling them to move to the next level, both professionally and academically." If you are based in the Caribbean and are interested in joining the January 2007 intake, please contact Darlene Jones, Director of the JIOB at jiobinfo@jiob.org.jm
